Demineralized whey is generated as a dilute liquid by-product of cheese production. It contains lactose, proteins and minerals. It can be processed to extract the minerals using Electro-dialysis. The concentrated demineralized whey is then spray dried into a powder.
Demineralized whey powder has widespread usage, some examples: infant formula, baby food, dietary foods and fortified products.
